Few blankets are as recognizable as the Hudson's Bay point blanket. The bold multi-stripe band, natural wool warmth, and heritage point-blanket construction have made it a fixture of cabins, lodges, guest rooms, and cold-weather bedrooms for generations.
This is the genuine article in 100% wool - not a printed lookalike. Wool breathes as it warms, helps regulate moisture, and provides durable natural insulation for beds, sofas, cabins, guest rooms, and winter layering.

Warm in a cold room, for decades
A point blanket is a working blanket. The wool is dense and heavy, so it holds heat in a drafty bedroom, a cabin, or a house heated by a wood stove, and it keeps insulating when the air is damp. It also breathes, so you stay warm without overheating.
It is made to last. Point blankets are known for being used for decades and handed down. Kept for twenty winters, a Queen works out to about $33 a winter.
What are the points?
Look along one edge and you'll see short woven black lines: the "points." A common myth says they marked how many beaver pelts the blanket was worth in trade. They did not. The points identify the blanket's finished size and weight, a system used so buyers could judge a folded blanket at a glance. More points means a larger, heavier blanket. Ours run from the 3.5 point Twin to the 8 point King.
You may also see it called a trapper blanket or a trade blanket. Our point blanket guide explains how the terms differ.

FAQ
Where can I buy a Hudson's Bay point blanket now that the Hudson's Bay stores have closed?
Right here. Hudson's Bay department stores closed in 2025, but the point blanket is still made in England and sold new. We sell genuine, brand-new point blankets to U.S. buyers in all four sizes, with U.S. duties already paid.
Is this an authentic Hudson's Bay blanket?
Yes. Chalet Wool sells genuine Hudson's Bay products as an independent retailer.
Is Chalet Wool affiliated with Hudson's Bay Company or Canadian Tire?
No. Chalet Wool is an independent retailer. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Hudson's Bay Company or Canadian Tire Corporation.
How many points is each size?
The Twin is a 3.5 point blanket, the Double is a 4 point, the Queen is a 6 point, and the King is an 8 point.
Is this blanket new or vintage?
New. Every blanket we sell is new and unused. We do not sell vintage or second-hand blankets.
Which bag will my blanket come in?
Hudson's Bay is moving to a new retail bag design, and our stock includes both the current bag and the newer one. We can't choose which one ships with your order. Either way the blanket is the same genuine, new 100% wool point blanket, and the packaging style is not a reason for a return.
Will it shrink?
Machine washing and machine drying can shrink or felt wool. Dry cleaning is recommended. If hand-washing, use cold water, handle gently, and lay flat to dry.
Will I owe customs fees on a U.S. order?
No. We pay all duties, import fees, and brokerage before the blanket reaches you. There is nothing further to pay at delivery.
Can I return it?
Yes. Unused, unwashed blankets in original condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return shipping may apply unless the item arrives damaged or incorrect.
