FAQ

Where can I buy a Hudson's Bay point blanket now that the Hudson's Bay stores have closed?

Hudson's Bay department stores closed in 2025, but the point blanket is still made in England and sold new. Chalet Wool sells genuine, brand-new Hudson's Bay point blankets online to U.S. buyers in all four sizes, with free expedited shipping and U.S. duties already paid.

Can I buy a Hudson's Bay blanket in the United States?

Yes. We ship from Montréal to anywhere in the U.S. in 5 to 8 business days. U.S. duties, import fees and brokerage are included in the price, so there is nothing to pay at the door.

Is a Hudson's Bay point blanket worth the price?

For most owners, yes. It is dense 100% wool, so it stays warm in a cold room or a cabin and keeps insulating in damp air, and it is made to last for decades and be handed down. Kept for twenty winters, a Queen works out to about $33 a winter. If you want something light and machine-washable, a cotton or synthetic blanket will suit you better.

Which size should I buy as a gift?

The Queen (6 point) is the safest choice: it covers a queen bed and also works as a generous throw. Pick the King for a king bed or a couple who likes extra coverage, and the Twin for a single bed, a bunk or a sofa. Not sure? A gift card lets them choose.

How warm is a wool point blanket?

Very warm for its thickness. Wool traps air, holds heat when the room is cold or drafty, and breathes, so you stay warm without overheating. It is a favorite for cabins, wood-heated homes and cold bedrooms.

Where do you ship?

Chalet Wool ships to the United States with free expedited shipping, and U.S. duties and import fees are included in the price. We also ship to selected international destinations. Available countries are shown at checkout, and for orders outside the U.S., duties and taxes are paid by the buyer on delivery.

Is Chalet Wool affiliated with Hudson's Bay Company?

No. Chalet Wool is an independent retailer. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Hudson's Bay Company, Canadian Tire, Pendleton, Woolrich, or any other heritage blanket brand.

Are the blankets 100% wool?

Yes. Our Hudson's Bay point blankets are 100% wool. Accessories such as tote bags and umbrellas are made from other materials, which are listed on each product page.

How do I choose a blanket size?

Use the size based on where the blanket will live most of the time:

  • Twin, 3.5 point: 86 x 60 in / about 218 x 152 cm - good for bunks, kids rooms, cabin beds, and single sleepers.
  • Double, 4 point: 90 x 72 in / about 229 x 183 cm - good for smaller beds, guest rooms, sofas, and layered use.
  • Queen, 6 point: 100 x 90 in / about 254 x 229 cm - the safest flexible choice for most beds and gifts.
  • King, 8 point: 108 x 100 in / about 274 x 254 cm - best for larger beds, extra coverage, and winter layering.

What do 3.5 point, 4 point, 6 point and 8 point mean?

The points are the short woven lines on one edge of the blanket, and they indicate its size. Our Twin is a 3.5 point blanket, the Double is a 4 point, the Queen is a 6 point, and the King is an 8 point.

Which bag will my blanket come in?

Hudson's Bay is moving to a new retail bag design, and our stock includes both the current bag and the newer one. We can't choose which one ships with your order. Either way the blanket inside is the same genuine, new 100% wool point blanket, and the packaging style is not a reason for a return.

How should I care for a wool blanket?

Follow the care label on your specific product. In general, wool blankets do best with airing out, spot cleaning when possible, gentle brushing, and clean dry storage. Avoid high heat unless the care label says it is safe.

Can I return an order?

Unused, unwashed items in original condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery. Return shipping may apply unless the item arrives damaged or incorrect.

What if my order arrives damaged or wrong?

Contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photos so we can review it and help fix the issue.

Are your Hudson's Bay products genuine?

Yes. Every Hudson's Bay item we sell is the genuine product, not a lookalike. "Point blanket" is the traditional name for this kind of wool blanket: the points are the short woven lines on one edge that indicate its size.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes. Chalet Wool gift cards are available from $50 to $1,000 and are delivered by email. They are a good option when someone wants the classic blanket but prefers to choose the size themselves.
